Terms of Service

§ 1 Scope
These Terms of Service apply to the use of the Kavyr service, a security scanner for npm packages, provided by Domenic Wehkamp (hereinafter "Provider"). By installing or using Kavyr, the user accepts these Terms.
§ 2 Service Description
(1) Kavyr is a CLI tool and web service for checking npm packages against known security threats before installation.
(2) Free Version: Unlimited scans against known blocklists and CVE databases.
(3) Pro Version: Additional features including script analysis, version anomaly detection, and advanced threat detection.
§ 3 Disclaimer of Liability – IMPORTANT
(1) The Provider assumes NO LIABILITY for damages caused by malicious npm packages, even if they were not detected by Kavyr.
(2) Kavyr provides an additional layer of protection but cannot guarantee 100% security. New threats, zero-day exploits, or previously unknown attack methods may not be detected.
(3) The user is solely responsible for:
- The final decision to install packages
- Additional security measures in their development environment
- Regular security audits of their projects
- Backups and damage mitigation
(4) The service is provided "as-is". The Provider makes no guarantees regarding the completeness, accuracy, or currency of the threat database.
(5) The Provider's liability is limited in all cases to the amount paid by the user for the service. For free usage, there is no liability.
§ 4 Terms of Use
(1) Use is permitted only for legal purposes.
(2) The user may not misuse the service, in particular:
- Performing automated mass requests (except within normal usage)
- Reselling the API for other services
- Attempting to bypass security measures
(3) In case of violation, the Provider reserves the right to block access.
§ 5 Pro Subscription
(1) The Pro subscription is billed monthly and automatically renews until cancelled.
(2) Cancellation is possible at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.
(3) Refunds are only available within 14 days of initial purchase, provided the service has not been substantially used.
(4) Price changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance.
§ 6 Availability
(1) The Provider strives for high availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
(2) Maintenance windows will be announced in advance when possible.
(3) If the API is unavailable, the CLI tool will proceed with the npm installation without scanning, to avoid blocking the workflow.
§ 7 Privacy
The collection and processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.
§ 8 Changes to Terms
(1) The Provider reserves the right to modify these Terms.
(2) Material changes will be communicated via email (for registered users) or on the website.
(3) Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
§ 9 Final Provisions
(1) German law applies.
(2) The place of jurisdiction is Rheine, Germany, to the extent legally permissible.
(3) If any provision is invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.
